CHOSEN PATH CHURCH SERVICE PROJECTS AND COMMUNITY ACTION
From time to time, as interest and support is sufficient, Chosen Path Church does service projects as well as needed community action work. Here are some of our past successes.
2021 Homeless Outreach
UPDATE: Thank you everyone who reached out to Chosen Path Church and supported our homeless Outreach program. We served a hot meal of pulled BBQ Chicken on a bun, fresh corn on the cob, salad, 2 bananas, snack crackers, pre-packaged dessert, and water for the low cost to the Church of $2.89 per person. We also provided a bag, either a backpack or rolling over night bag, that contained a heavy duty contractor bag to keep belongings dry, a gallon zip lock of toiletries and another gallon zip lock of necessities, i.e. socks, flashlight, stamped envelop, paper and pen to write home with, etc. Here is a picture of some of our assembled work before we loaded the car. We had enough to hand out to 40 people.
On July 10th members of Chosen Path Church will pass out backpacks (or small overnight bags) with wheels that contain two blessing bags. We are excited to return to this annual outreach after a one year hiatus due to Covid. Only members who have been fully vaccinated will participate in the actual distribution. However, earlier in that day all members can participate in stuffing the blessing bags and preparing the hot meal that will also be distributed. If you would like to donate products for the blessing bag stuffing, please see the file linked below. There is also a URL you can copy below to be taken to our Amazon shopping Wish List. If you order from Amazon please use the shipping address attached to the Wish List so it can be delivered directly to the Temple. Please check the delivery date on your order to make sure it will be delivered prior to July 7th. 2015 Jacksonville Human Rights Ordinance Expansion to include LGBTQA+ Citizens.
Several members of Chosen Path Church attended community meetings about expanding the existing HRO laws in Duval County, FL to include protections for our LGBTQA+ citizens. Additionally, Rev. Laurie Denman spoke at several city council meetings on the topic. Unfortunately we had to do this work again in 2017 due to court challenges by the far right Christian sects in the city and bussed in from across Florida in opposition to the efforts to work toward equality for all our citizens.
